STEWART FRANCKE ALIVE AND UNPLUGGED AT THE ARK
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Live acoustic album to be released through Burnside Distribution on January 20, 2009.
Detroit— Stewart Francke, one of Michigan’s favorite sons, will release Stewart Francke Alive and Unplugged at The Ark, his tenth album, in November. Recorded in August 2003, the song lineup will feature nine of Francke’s hits done in a soulful, acoustic style, including “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” and “Upon Seeing Simone.”
The new album follows 2006's Motor City Serenade, released by London’s Zane Records. A live concert sponsored by 94.7 WCSX on November 8 at the Village Players Theater in Birmingham will celebrate the release of the record. The concert will begin at 8pm; tickets are available at the VP box office or at www.stewartfrancke.com
Stewart Francke Live and Unplugged at The Ark features several of Detroit’s finest musicians, including guitarist Robert Tye, pianist Christopher Plansker, and vocalists Barbara Payton and Jeanne Staels. The Regular Boys Horn Section is also featured on a couple songs. The night was recorded by Detroit veteran engineer Roscoe White and mixed by Jim Kissling at Tempermill.
Francke is nearly finished with a new studio album as well, to be released in the Spring of 2009. “I’d actually forgotten about the live recording...I found the rough mixes (of this live stuff) while I was writing and recording all these new things,” Francke says. “And the audience that night in Ann Arbor was off the hook, so there’s a lot of humor, a lot of joy–and a ton of energy–even though the presentation was not with the big, rockin’ band. I was struck by how well the band at that time addressed the subtleties of the songs and gave the lyrics room. So I really thought fans of my music would love these interpretations of songs they already know and hopefully love.”
Track Listing:

Stewart Francke's music sounds as if Jackson and James Brown were brothers. Detroit blue-eyed soul.
Jamie Thorne is a young country artist from Orangeville, Ontario, Canada with a passion and a hunger for the stage. He loves to perform and brings down the house every time.
His voice has that deep country Nashville growl that pulls on the heartstrings and gets the feet moving. Jamie has just completed his debut album “Anywhere To Go”, produced by Jim Hopson of Wellcraft Music in his nationally renowned studio in Brechin, Ontario.
“Working with Jim was great, we took our time and crafted the album very carefully so that it sounded the way we wanted it to, I’m extremely happy with the results” says Jamie.
His first single “Anywhere To Go” written by Gerald Smith/Larry Williams/Bruce Bouton, has just been released nationally to country radio in Canada and Jamie has also just inked a deal with Prism/Fontana/Universal Music for distribution in Canada. Jamie’s new album “Anywhere to Go” ships nationally on September 23rd to retail.
Overcoming his shyness was the biggest issue for Jamie. He always knew that he could sing and thought that probably everyone could. It wasn’t until he was in his teens when he got up to a karaoke mike with some friends after a few tall ones and he blew everyone away. His pals said “Wow, you can really sing.” That moment was the beginning for Jamie’s quest to find his way into country music. Now when he thinks about performing live he reflectively states, “ I still get nervous but it’s the good nervous, the kind when you know you are ready.”
“My biggest U.S. influences are Brooks & Dunn, George Strait and Tim McGraw, says Jamie, because I really do tend to be drawn to more traditional country.”
“I like everything that Jason McCoy has ever done and I would just love to meet Julian Austin and sit and have a beer with him, he was a big influence for me creatively.”
A true entertainer and winner of the 2005 Nashville North Superstar Competition also inspired Jamie to get into the saddle and record this new debut album. A short while ago Jamie also garnered 3rd spot at the KX96 Radio contest “Cradle to Rave”
Jamie is looking forward to being in Nashville to launch his new album “Anywhere To Go” at The Rutledge on Tuesday, October 28th.
There is a bright future in country music for Jamie and he is aiming for the stars…his own star.
Soren Anders to Release New Solo Tracks in December, 2008
New York, NY - November 23, 2008 - Alternative/Indie artist Soren Anders, best known as the frontman of the poly-genre band Shimmerplanet, will be releasing new solo tracks, including "The Thorn In The Side Of A Boy", "I Want Nothing", and "The Last Leaf of Autumn" on iTunes in December, 2008.
Hailing from New York, Soren is a composer, singer, producer, and instrumentalist. Drawing from influences such as Regina Spektor, Björk, Radiohead, and even classical composers like Maurice Ravel, Soren has created a clever sound that ranges from dark reflection on “I Know A Hundred Ways To Die,” which has quickly become a fan favorite because of its haunting setting of Edna St. Vincent Millay’s poem, to quirky radio-friendly singles like “Proof Conjecture,” both of which can be purchased on iTunes along with “Late For You Tango.” His solo album is set to release in the near future on Shark Meat Records, the same label who released Shimmerplanet’s critically-acclaimed album “For the One Who Kills Tomorrow.”

“The Future” is here
Los Angeles, CA – Sean Douglas is showing fans the future of hip-hop with his new single “The Future (Fook Fook)” from the new album “Seize the Day.” Douglas ably merges smarts and originality with commercial viability and sends out lyrics that listeners can relate to. His beats, samples and melodies come together in a hooky, sharp-textured groove of hip-hop energy.
“The Future” has got the drive and wordplay fans can expect from the rest of Douglas’ work, offering listeners an intro into hip-hop Douglas style. The phrase “fook fook” is a transliteration of sorts of the words sampled in the song’s hook. The words mean “wake up” and point to the alertness and awareness Douglas urges when facing the future of one’s life.
The full meaning of the chorus, says Douglas, is “Wake up, you dreamers – in Hollywood, things are not always as they seem.” The tune tells the listener to be true to self rather than succumb to the mindset of “Hollywood wanna-be’s.”
“To my fans: Come with me to a side where this nonsense doesn’t exist,” says Douglas. Themes of personal struggle and self-empowerment occur throughout his music.
The classical undertones, confrontational topic, shiny production, commercial song structure, the peak of the song’s bridge and the final chorus segment, the vocalist collaboration – these are all typical of Douglas’ music.
But while “The Future” does boast all the staples of Douglas’ work, he is quick to point out that every song on the album is distinctive, all representative of his style but each possessing its own personality.
Douglas is the son of Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Douglas Stewart. He was raised in Los Angeles and found himself on the road to hip-hop via an interest in spoken word performance he developed in college. From poetry slams to hooking up with local MCs and other poets, Douglas was facing his destiny as a rap artist.
He is currently working with A&R Select, the world’s leading independent artist development firm based out of Los Angeles, CA. More information is available by visiting www.myspace.com/seandouglas1, www.seandouglasmusic.com and www.arselect.com.
Sean Douglas' music is a seamless hybrid of hip-hop, classical, rock and soul. This diverse group brings honesty and integrity back to a fledgling art-form. A tremendous live act accompanies their radio-ready cd.
